I recorded a new song this weekend; it’s definitely the fastest full mix I think I’ve ever put together. Things just seemed to work, which is rare. Anyway, I’m proud of it. I like the melodies. I left out the drums on purpose, because I wanted it to feel a bit more “raw” than usual. Feel free to download it and let me know what you think!

Lyrics are after the jump.
Lyrics:
I don’t mean to impose
But I need to know
Where you find
Your reason to grow
Your reason to grow
I need mine
I’m failing everything just because I refuse to try
I’m losing all the faith in myself that I could find
And I’m trying hard to keep on my good side
But I’m finding out how deep the issues lie ’cause
What feels right doesn’t fit the game and now
I’m fighting just to stay the same somehow
When all I need is a transformation
And all I want is a defamation
Face forward
Move onward
Tomorrow
Will follow
Left my pride on the door step
Ten years ago
When I found
These addictions that keep me
Locked and controlled
I’m still bound
I’m bloodied and I’m bruised from the wounds that I’ve applied
I’m broken and confused by the thoughts that I’ve supplied
And I’m trying hard to keep on my good side
But I’m finding out how deep the issues lie ’cause
What feels right doesn’t fit the game and now
I’m fighting just to stay the same somehow
When all I need is a transformation
And all I want is a defamation
Face forward
Move onward
Tomorrow
Will follow

Hey Jason,
The song sounds great. Love the lyrics. Keep in touch, man.
Thanks, David. :)
We definitely need to hook up sometime soon. The last two times we’ve tried it’s fallen through.
interesting. i had no clue that you wrote and performed your own music. there’s still a lot i don’t know about you bro. i really liked the song.
Thanks, Bryce. I don’t tend to go around advertising my “talents.” ;)
I’m sure there’s quite a bit that I don’t know about you yet either… :)
It’s really good. The recording is great. I love your voice. I might be biased, but I know what good music is!
Jason,
This is musically quite impressive, but I can’t decide if it is song of hope or of despair. Love the lines “left my pride…ten years ago…” and “face forward…”
Dad
It’s song of despair, and a song of hope. The lyrics are really just meant to describe what goes on inside of me in battling the worldly addictions and issues that I struggle with. I have hope, but I’m constantly beaten down by the fact that I keep going back to the same stupid decisions. “When all I need is a transformation, and all I want is a defamation.”
I’m reminded of Romans 7:15:
“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”
Although obviously my definition of the word “want” in those lyrics is quite different then the way Paul uses it in the verse.
And thank you for the compliment, Dad. It really means a lot to me. :)
I was trying to give you 5 star vote and didn’t know why, clicked on it to see if it would take me to a place where I could vote and found out that it automatically made my vote by clicking on the star…4, but I didn’t mean to vote yet and I wasn’t going to vote 4! Naughty stars!
It’s okay…I removed your vote. You should be able to vote again now. ;)
Can’t wait to share…this is awesome, music & lyrics that fit so well & I believe many will relate to. My greatest compliments to your Producer!! ( :
Hahaha…what producer? Lol…
Thanks, Sherrie. Share away! :D
