LaunchBox 2.2 Released

LaunchBoxHere is version 2.2, now with support for importing all of your Steam games. Also included in this release is several performance improvement updates to improve both startup time and the overall performance of the application. Please see the change log in the application for the complete details.

With this release I’ve realized that the automatic update process has been broken in some situations; it has been fixed in this release, but version 2.1 and below may not properly auto-update to version 2.2. You should still be prompted to update, but may receive an error when choosing to download the update. In that situation, downloading the update from the website and installing over the top of your existing installation will update LaunchBox and fix the auto-update for future releases.

Hi. I saw the screen shots and had to try it. Unfortunately, I get an error when I try to load it. It installs with no issue. When I try to load it, it says

    C:\Users\Bobby\My Documents\LaunchBox.exe

A device attached to the system is not functioning.

I’m running Windows 7 x64. Any ideas? Thanks!

Wow; that’s a new one. Have you ever seen that error before elsewhere on your system? I suppose it could be a networking device that’s causing problems…but even that would be surprising. I definitely want to get it resolved, so we’ll work to resolve it, but I might have to send you a custom version to debug the problem.

In the mean time, can you send me a screenshot (picture) of the error? You can just press the Print Screen button on your keyboard, paste it into Paint, save it, and send it over to jasondavidcarr@gmail.com.

      Thanks for the info! :)

this is a really nice launcher!
One feature Id love to see is controller support (xbox 360) for browsing and launching.

    thanks for all the work!

Inadvertently posted this under 2.1, should be here. One feature that might be useful is the ability to add games using the GamesDB id number. When I tried to add Far Cry 3,Launchbox said that the game wasn’t listed at GamesDB, although it is, obviously. I don’t know how many games are going to run into that error, I’ve only tried to import about three dozen, but being able to add the game by just looking up it’s id number and adding that might solve the problem.

Hi Duncan, good idea. I think I’ve seen that too. I think maybe for whatever reason, TheGamesDB’s search engine doesn’t work for words that are three characters or less; that’s my best guess. So for Far Cry 3, it doesn’t have anything to search off of, and so it doesn’t find any games. For the next release I’ll allow you to type the id into the title and have it come back from that. Thanks for suggestion. :)
